How would I go around to become one?

For real .. I've been using and onboarding to jabber.org for months .. and I'd really like to give something back

And we are in the process of fixing our bank account, so for now we can’t yet receive money.

Will read it .. (browser translators are pretty good this days)

I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and that means that making a back transfer would be just about impossible

but ..

Luckily for me ... this years DebConf26 will take place in my country and I do know a few european members that will be present!!

So I can maybe give them the money and they can pass it on to you?

Would that be ok?

mathieui, sure thing and thank you for your good advice! But ..

As I mentioned earlier, I'm stuck in Argentina .. and that means a lot of things you couldn't believe .. like: 1) if I want to buy foreing exchange ( euros, american dollars, u name it) I have to pay taxes on top of the price of the exchange rate and 2) If I need to make a payment to a foreing entity (regardless of the nature of the entity) I have to pay an extra 21% taxes on top of the total amount ...

And, in all honesty, I rather not pay all those taxes and send that money straight to your pockets

I do understand that for legal reasons you might be forced to get the money via money transfer or credit card payment .. but if that's the case, I would still rather send you the money even If you can't make me a member.

After all, the whole point is: give you something back for all you guys do for all of us 😉

gonzalo: it's fine to give us cash, just a bit harder (in fact we can only currently take cash 🤐)

Then, I'll proceed as I had planned: give the cash to the european guys who will be attending DebConf26 in Argentina so they can send it or give it straight to you (in case I manage to catch someone from France .. as of now, all I know is that I'll meet with at least one awesome guy from Germany .. but who knows!) ✏

Oh! And this just hit me as we are talking, If you guys would like to promote your communities, services and/or products in this side of the world, reach out to Debian developers who will be attending DebConf26 and take advantage that they will be travelling all the way over here to send promotional material! That would be awesome too!

At least that's how I get promotional material to spread the word about XMPP in the different events that take place along the year ...
